In the morning of August 4, 2019, the flag ceremony held in the International Philippine School in Jeddah’s gym gave way to the customary oath-taking ceremony of academic year 2019 – 2020’s new set of Supreme Student Council and Parent-Teacher Group officers.

The day kicked off with the usual routine: the invocation of the Islamic prayer, the singing of the Philippine and the Saudi national anthems, the recitation of Panatang Makabayan, Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag, as well as an exciting dance number from various students of grade 11. These were all followed by the beginning of the oath-taking ceremony.

San Sebastian Church

Related imageFamously called Bacolod Cathedral, the San Sebastian Cathedral is the most famous religious and historical landmark in the province of Bacolod. San Sebastian Church was first built as a little chapel made of wood in the early 19th century. That time, the church only had one small bell.

By the end of the century, the church was reconstructed into a bigger structure made of coral stones from Guimaras and hardwood from Palawan. The finished structure was inaugurated in 1882 and was later officially declared as a cathedral, the seat of the bishop, in 1933.

Two bell towers that used to bear the church bells stand on each side of the cathedral. The two antique bells had been removed from the bell towers in the 1970’s and are now displayed outside on the church grounds for better preservation.

Sisig From Hukad

Simple, quick, straightforward, unassuming, unpretentious, overly crunchy, meaty and exploding with flavor — that is sisig for you at Hukad. Their pork sisig is like chicharon or lechon kawali made into flavorful sisig. Plus, this dish seems to be eternally crunchy. Aside from pork sisig, they also offer other variants such as squid sisig; tuna sisig and bangus sisig. Great value for money, too. I’d always go back here for my sisig fix.
